Sloppy Tender --- Big Dream Time (finish)

'Sloppy Tender' is a one dude package named Kyle who makes songs holed up in his cloudy new york apartment day and night while he should probably be doing other things. But it's a good thing he's not cause what he's churned out on 'Big Dream Time' is plumb fresh and boundless - completely high on the lo-fi and letting things flow. Boy AKA 'Sloppy Tender' used to make hazy, smart pop songs that he sang in a funny voice and still does sometimes - but here he's on a completely different trip, channeling some extremely groovy, messed up sensations that are really worth feeling out. So what if standard procedure were all together chucked to the bin where it could ferment and grow? Whats that thing living in there?! It's probably something like 'Big Dream time,' and it's Alive. A sprawling, fuzzy and totally out there slab of hot wax where the psychedelic dream is boss. Both blissed out and hissed out - warm & friendly, cold & harsh. Like a really big awkward hug you can't help but love. But hug back cause opposites are attracting here people. And you'll know it when your rump is busy shaking all while your peeking into that bottomless void we're all absorbed in. 'Sloppy Tender' kills it, brings it back to life, then dances around with it. This isn't just taxidermy though, it's putting life into the lifeless; pure magic. A deep and throaty groove thats totally worth digesting. So give the goggles a try. And listen, he's a really, really good dancer.

*pretty limited stuff - made in the future for today - filled with love

SUN ARAW / PREDATOR VISION split

Id say predator vision takes the cake on this split

Download

Predator Vision --- II

Predator Vision rock so hard. I am obsessed with this band.

Influenced by watching the movie Predator while listening to soft rock records of Fleetwood Mac, Paul Simon, and Todd Rundgren. This documents an acid- drenched jam recorded in the basement of Skylight Horizon Studio in Northampton, MA. Featuring Matt Mondanile and Ben Daly on guitars and Etienne Duguay on drums. Mixture of Neil Young amped guitar lines with krauty Guru Guru progressive feel. Definite on the beach zoner Yahowa 13 style

U.S. Girls --- Me + Yoko 7''

There’s no disputing the truth that certain formats befit certain artists. Think about it: where’s the logic in Tangerine Dream rocking a 3-way split 3” CDR? Those fools need room to roam. Conversely, why would Orthrelm drop a 4xLP? Who needs 160 minutes of 8-second spazz songs? The medium is a message, man. And for Megan Remy’s brief, brave re-imaginings of guitar/voice pop rapture done under the U.S. Girls flag, the 45 RPM 7 inch single is the absolute dream medium for transporting said sounds to the interested earhole. Short and sweet (and chemical) like a sugar rush, Me + Yoko is her latest reverb-gaze drug nugget in a string of strong singles (following releases on Hardscrabble Amateurs and Cherry Burger), and it’s another keeper. Whistling to life with a scrap of found sound/dialogue, the song then wings into a vague, hazed-out stone-toss between 2 tired notes (a dead ringer for that famous Les Rallizes Denudes bass riff), ebbing and flowing beneath smeary streaks of white-washed vocal blur. A Top 40 single for a universe of ghosts. The B, “Rise + Go,” might actually be the more aching of the two, a broke-down bedroom ballad, awash in sad seas of reverb, lapping at the shores of isolated islands, gently sailing into heartbreak. Sounds lo-fi but lush, like it was recorded high on a cloud on a cheap 80s boombox. Imagine that. Black vinyl 45 RPM singles, mastered by Pete Swanson, in photocopied sleeves with art by Remy. Edition of 380."

Carla Bozulich---Evangelista

I do not know why I like this cd so much but something about it keeps me coming back for more. Carla Bozulich usually writes happy country music but some guy must of fucked her pretty badly because Evangelista is in no way happy country music. Evangelista is a dirty grimy ode to pain and loneliness. Carla yelps from the depths of her soul

"if I could cry id be swimming"

this album is absolutely beautiful and I highly recommend everyone to download it.

Wet Hair----Dream

"When Iowa City freak-out free-rockers Raccoo-oo-oon called it quits last year it left a bummer scar in the Midwest underground scene. But time is a great healer, and so are new bands. So out of the ashes of the RAC pack comes Wet Hair, a synth-punk-trance duo composed of keyboardist/vocalizer Shawn Reed and keyboardist/drummer Ryan Garbes, and Dream is the band’s debut vinyl full-length after a series of increasingly shredding limited-edition cassettes on their own Night People label. Piling together an unlikely trash heap of Suicide-style drum machine beat-bops, zone-droned krautrock keys, and fucked up outsider crooning, the LP’s four tracks careen across a spectrum of moods and mangled melodies. Recorded at Flat Black Studios by Luke Tweedy and mastered by Pete Swanson, Wet Hair’s cult electric annihilation has never gleamed with such razor-edged weirdness; this is their dream made real. Black vinyl LPs in jackets with artwork by Reed and Garbes, plus a pro-printed full-color 11x11 insert." Not Not Fun

Scientist---Dub In The Roots Tradition

I'm not saying i love this CD but i am listening to it a lot. Laid back dub.

"Another compilation of dubs appearing for the first time ever on album. Producer Don Mais enlisted the talents of the 17-year old Scientist to mix the dub versions for his Roots Tradition label's B-sides. The cuts collected here present a fascinating insight into the young Dubmaster's early efforts, while the rhythms themselves, some played by an embryonic version of Roots Radics, mark the transition point from the reggae styles of the seventies into what would become known as dancehall."

Real Estate--- Real Estate 7"

this 7" has 3 songs that make me want to lay back in the warm sun with a bud (friend and beer)

"Let's Rock The Beach,"
but Real Estate are more about the lovably down-and-out Jersey Shorethan a pristine Caribbean. The quartet mention Ridgewood NJ, RidgewoodNY, Jersey City, and Brooklyn as their location (that's two out offour, which counts), the Boss and "New Jersey" itself as influences. Ontop of that, their MySpace Top 8 includes Titus Andronicus and the Ridgewood, NJ Real Estater Matt Mondanile also records as Ducktails, and therein has a song called "Beach Point Pleasant." So, see, we'remaking shit up with that Jersey Shore claim. Beyond geography, songs like "Suburban Beverage" mix languid psychedelia, muted vocals, a boomy undertow of drums, and jammy repetitions that somehow conjure fellow Garden State crew the Feelies (then again, that could just be because of how they look). It makes sense they mention the Clean as an influence, less so the Beach Boys, unless it's about the sand. Maybeit's best to call it a sunsetting, less ethereal Galaxie 500, but before it gets too dark. Or ignore our descriptions and see for yourself: We have a demo of "Fake Blues" -- which will show up in adifferent, in the band's eyes "better" version as the A-side of a TBA second 7" and debut full length -- along with "Suburban Beverage," the A-side of their soon to be released first 7".

Ducktails ---- II c30

Ducktails is the EZ listen. it feels like a ray of sunshine on a chilly day or if you prefer, a cool breeze on a scorching summer day. its all smooth sailing from here. psych at its best.

"Brooklyn-based musician Matt Mondanile, marking the onset of fall with a prayer for eternal summer. Though he proudly identifies suburban New Jersey as his heart's true home, Mondanile's sound is equally the product of four years on the Western Massachussetts noise scene, a prolonged stay in an immigrant neighborhood in Berlin and a thriving re-issue culture that brings psychedelic and world music gems back from the dead."

Group Inerane --- Guitars From Agadez (Music of Niger)

Lately i have been really into music from Africa. I came across Group Inerane last week and was pleasantly surprised. His music is definitely psychedelic but at the same time sounds so worldly. Threaded within the music you can hear beautifull african chants . i highly reccomend it :)

"Group Inerane is the now sound of the Tuareg Guitar Revolution sweeping across the Sahara Desert and inspired by the rebel musicians that started this music as a political weapon used to communicate from the Libyan Refugee camps in the 1980s and 1990s. Spearheaded by the enigmatic guitar hero Bibi Ahmed, Group Inerane has been together for several years and carries the rich tradition of Tamachek guitar songs for another generation. These ten tracks are a combination of amplified roots rock, blues, and folk in the local Tuareg styles at times entering into full-on electric guitar psychedelia. This music is performed with two electric guitars, a drum kit and a chorus of vocalists. The recordings were captured live in the city of Agadez in the Republic of Niger."

Black Dice --- Creature Comforts

Black Dice's Cd newest release Load Blown is great but it does not compare to their 2004 release Creature Comforts. Creature Comforts is a more minimal and more intricate. This stuff is "Trippy"

"Black Dice are an group based in Brooklyn. They formed in Providence, Rhode Island in 1997, comprising members Bjorn Copeland (guitar), Hisham Bharoocha (drums) (following a short drumming stint by Lightning Bolt’s Brian Chippendale), Sebastian Blanck (bass) and Eric Copeland (vocals). After the band relocated to City, Sebastian Blanck left and was replaced by Aaron Warren. Hisham Bharoocha had previously sung for Lightning Bolt and is currently working on other projects, but he left the band too and is now working as a solo musician Soft Circle.

Black Dice have considerably changed their sound since their inception, moving from a noisy, thrashy style to their current, trippy, more music. They Released ‘Broken Ear Record’ on James Murphy (Of LCD Soundsystem) and Tim Goldsmith’s label. In May 2007 they released a 12” on Paw Tracks and they have released ‘Load Blown’ in October 2007 on the same label.
