Scientist---Dub In The Roots Tradition

I'm not saying i love this CD but i am listening to it a lot. Laid back dub.

"Another compilation of dubs appearing for the first time ever on album. Producer Don Mais enlisted the talents of the 17-year old Scientist to mix the dub versions for his Roots Tradition label's B-sides. The cuts collected here present a fascinating insight into the young Dubmaster's early efforts, while the rhythms themselves, some played by an embryonic version of Roots Radics, mark the transition point from the reggae styles of the seventies into what would become known as dancehall."

Real Estate--- Real Estate 7"

this 7" has 3 songs that make me want to lay back in the warm sun with a bud (friend and beer)

"Let's Rock The Beach,"
but Real Estate are more about the lovably down-and-out Jersey Shorethan a pristine Caribbean. The quartet mention Ridgewood NJ, RidgewoodNY, Jersey City, and Brooklyn as their location (that's two out offour, which counts), the Boss and "New Jersey" itself as influences. Ontop of that, their MySpace Top 8 includes Titus Andronicus and the Ridgewood, NJ Real Estater Matt Mondanile also records as Ducktails, and therein has a song called "Beach Point Pleasant." So, see, we'remaking shit up with that Jersey Shore claim. Beyond geography, songs like "Suburban Beverage" mix languid psychedelia, muted vocals, a boomy undertow of drums, and jammy repetitions that somehow conjure fellow Garden State crew the Feelies (then again, that could just be because of how they look). It makes sense they mention the Clean as an influence, less so the Beach Boys, unless it's about the sand. Maybeit's best to call it a sunsetting, less ethereal Galaxie 500, but before it gets too dark. Or ignore our descriptions and see for yourself: We have a demo of "Fake Blues" -- which will show up in adifferent, in the band's eyes "better" version as the A-side of a TBA second 7" and debut full length -- along with "Suburban Beverage," the A-side of their soon to be released first 7".

Ducktails is the EZ listen. it feels like a ray of sunshine on a chilly day or if you prefer, a cool breeze on a scorching summer day. its all smooth sailing from here. psych at its best.

"Brooklyn-based musician Matt Mondanile, marking the onset of fall with a prayer for eternal summer. Though he proudly identifies suburban New Jersey as his heart's true home, Mondanile's sound is equally the product of four years on the Western Massachussetts noise scene, a prolonged stay in an immigrant neighborhood in Berlin and a thriving re-issue culture that brings psychedelic and world music gems back from the dead."

Group Inerane --- Guitars From Agadez (Music of Niger)

Lately i have been really into music from Africa. I came across Group Inerane last week and was pleasantly surprised. His music is definitely psychedelic but at the same time sounds so worldly. Threaded within the music you can hear beautifull african chants . i highly reccomend it :)

"Group Inerane is the now sound of the Tuareg Guitar Revolution sweeping across the Sahara Desert and inspired by the rebel musicians that started this music as a political weapon used to communicate from the Libyan Refugee camps in the 1980s and 1990s. Spearheaded by the enigmatic guitar hero Bibi Ahmed, Group Inerane has been together for several years and carries the rich tradition of Tamachek guitar songs for another generation. These ten tracks are a combination of amplified roots rock, blues, and folk in the local Tuareg styles at times entering into full-on electric guitar psychedelia. This music is performed with two electric guitars, a drum kit and a chorus of vocalists. The recordings were captured live in the city of Agadez in the Republic of Niger."

Kuni Majagani - Group Inerane

Soft Circle --- Full Bloom

Soft circle is one guy who hits you where it hurts. When i listen to this it just makes me want to worship higher beings.

"Soft Circle consists of one member, Hisham Akira Bharoocha. Bharoocha has played in such groups as Lightning Bolt and Black Dice, and is also an accomplished visual artist and photographer. Soft Circle is his first solo music project. Soft Circle's goal is to create pure sonic vibrations that come from within."

Black Dice --- Creature Comforts

Black Dice's Cd newest release Load Blown is great but it does not compare to their 2004 release Creature Comforts. Creature Comforts is a more minimal and more intricate. This stuff is "Trippy"

"Black Dice are an experimental group based in Brooklyn. They formed in Providence, Rhode Island in 1997, comprising members Bjorn Copeland (guitar), Hisham Bharoocha (drums) (following a short drumming stint by Lightning Bolt’s Brian Chippendale), Sebastian Blanck (bass) and Eric Copeland (vocals). After the band relocated to new york City, Sebastian Blanck left and was replaced by Aaron Warren. Hisham Bharoocha had previously sung for Lightning Bolt and is currently working on other projects, but he left the band too and is now working as a solo musician Soft Circle.

Black Dice have considerably changed their sound since their inception, moving from a noisy, thrashy style to their current, trippy, more electronic music. They Released ‘Broken Ear Record’ on James Murphy (Of LCD Soundsystem) and Tim Goldsmith’s dfa label. In May 2007 they released a 12” on Paw Tracks and they have released ‘Load Blown’ in October 2007 on the same label."

Martin Arnold is an experimental movie maker who glitches out old movies. The tech nique he uses is one of the most re freshi ng things i have seen in a lon g time. I am posting these video s S S because the loops he creates de velop into a wonderful music experience. WA TCH T H I S (did you see i messed with the text?)

I feel his best Glitchy film is To Kill a Mocking Bird. He rapes this video. this can not be embedded so ill give you the link. watch to the end cuz you need to see the whole thing to appreciate it. the children yelling at each other made me bust. the full version is not on youtube which pisses me off.

The other 2 videos are also pretty good. The 1st reveals a terrifying kiss! and the 2nd one has a pretty long intro but after you get past the foreplay its all uphill from there.

Boom Bip & Doseone --- Circle

Abstract Hip Hop meets Abstract Trip Hop

I have always been a huge fan of the Anticon label. On this Cd Doseone Shines, linking abstract lyrics in the most unique rapping style.

Boom Bip & Doseone was a shortlived collaboration between the aforementioned artists, producing one album, Circle, and a set on a tour, documented on the 2002 Mush Tour DVD and a joint Peel Session with fellow Mush act, cLOUDDEAD.

Kashiwa Daisuke ---Program Music I

I am here to say that this man is equal to and sometimes even better than Worlds End Girl Friend. (yea i said it)

Kashiwa Daisuke is a solo artist from Hiroshima, Japan. His idea is to create not only acoustic, but also electronic filmy soundscapes and atmospheres, by melting together a variety of classical instruments, spoken word snippets, and crisp beats. With a proper amount of ambient music, all of these form an exquisite sound experience.


Program Music only features two tracks, but their runtime is still over an hour. Its rich textures and depths were noted, with one critic claiming, “It’s a combination of sound and image, rather than probably sound landscape, in terms of itself.”

Paavoharju - Laulu Laakson Kukista

Paavoharju is a freak folk band from Finland. Their sound is a precise combination of broken chords, acoustic guitars, spiritual choral vocals and digital filters.

classified as "entropic Nordic dance-pop"

"Downtempo dub. Song. Weird pastel electronica. Song. Laulu is structured much like Yhä Hämärää and the line between should be drawn using confidence, or perhaps perseverance. Mulish is too ugly a word for Laulu, whose compositions are stubbornly given room to flower and expand but are always appropriately reined; instead let's say that Paavoharju have a well-developed internal clock, or are otherwise familiar with "The Ugly Duckling". "Kirkonväki" outgrows its watery piano and malfunctioning click-track to blossom into a goth-rock prom, replete with organs in waltz-time stumble. "Uskallan" features a male lead so clear-throated and dramatic that the song sounds like one of the early 90s Latin-American hits that increasingly populate Chicago's jukeboxes. "Sumuvirsi", a rhythm-less, female-led hymn whose second-most prominent sound is a cackling raven, hues closest to the psych-folk traditional to Fonal's roster, but even it seems more theatrical and dramatic, like Paavoharju have been taking their cues both from Eleanoora Rosenholm and high-school drama productions.

The tiny honking synths that augment the rusty guitars of "Tyttö Tanssii" suggest a more literal reading of the Bicycle metaphor from above: a hill of two-wheelers, disheveled rubber, tassels, and bells. Laulu connotes this youth, motion, and playfulness in various states of repair and construction, and it does so by alternating well-formed, multi-faced pop songs with abstract head-scratchers, each component as warmly evocative and strangely necessary as the last. "

Kazumi Nikaidoh --- You Dropped Something Again, Didn't You?

Here is something a little more easy breezy on the ears. Kazumi Nikaidoh (Nika to her friends)   is a japanese folk singer.  You Dropped Something Again, Didn't You? is her second album.

"Nika plays the acoustic guitar with a distinctive finger-picking style but far more distinctive is her singing style, which can sound cute and childish at one point and then broken and jagged with a little warning. There are long sections of wordless singing that drifts away from the key and out of the meter. She is accompanied mostly by other acoustic instruments - piano, cello, flute, clarinet"
